As student of stars and struggle, love and earth, peace and moon, language and humans and history, Kai M. Green will continue his journey of receiving and sharing knowledge as Assistant Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality at Williams College in Fall 2017.
In 2014, he earned his Ph.D. from the Department of American Studies and Ethnicity with specializations in Gender Studies and Visual Anthropology at the University of Southern California, where he completed his dissertation, a historical and ethnographic study of Black queer Los Angeles entitled Into the Darkness: A Black Queer (Re)Membering of Los Angeles in a Time of Crises.
More broadly, Kai M. Green's scholarship, uniquely vested in querying forms of self-representation and communal political mobilization by Black LGBT persons in the urban context, combines art and activism with research on race, gender, and sexuality in Black LGBT communities and cultural production.

As a former postdoctoral fellow in Sexuality Studies and African American Studies at Northwestern University, and winner of both the Ford Foundation Pre-Doctoral Fellowship and the Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowship Dissertation Award, Kai M. Green has also published in numerous scholarly journals including GLQ, South Atlantic Quarterly, Black Camera, and TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly.
Green is currently at work editing a book collection entitled Black Trans Love is Black Wealth.
